More than putting a website online
Hosting is the service that makes your website available on the internet. Maintenance is the ongoing attention the site needs after it has been built. They are connected, but they are not the same thing. I explain what is included in your arrangement so you know who is looking after the site and what to do when something needs changing. There is no published fixed price for this service; get a quote for your website and its requirements.
Keeping the details current
An old phone number, a missing service or an out-of-date photo can make a useful website less helpful. If your business changes, the website should reflect that. I can discuss updates to your pages, contact information and images as part of your maintenance needs. The amount and type of update work should be agreed in your quote rather than assumed. If a change is larger than the agreed scope, I explain the extra work before proceeding.
Backups, updates and ongoing care
My hosting and maintenance service covers keeping a site online, backed up and up to date, with the details of the plan set out in your quote. The right arrangement depends on how the website is built and what it does. Tell me whether you have enquiry forms, bookings or other functions so I can understand what needs looking after. No website service can promise that every issue will be prevented, so clear responsibilities matter as much as the initial setup.
Deal directly with me
I build and look after every site myself. When you need help, you contact Kingsley rather than a separate account manager. I am based in Newcastle, NSW and work remotely, so businesses elsewhere in Australia can use the same service. If someone else built your existing site, send me its details before assuming it can move straight into a maintenance plan. I can assess what is available and discuss a sensible next step.
